India and Israel share a deep bondage of friendship and cooperation since New Delhi announced its recognition of Israel on 17th September, 1950. India’s relationship with Israel partners in
multiple sectors which include economic, trade and commerce, agriculture, defence and security, innovation, science and technology, health, culture, people-to-people contact etc. In the last decade India-Israel relationship had grown stronger with the changing geo-political situation. In accordance with this growing India-Israel bilateral relationship, Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS), India has meaningfully deliberated on several key aspects of India-Israel bilateral relationship through organizing seminars, publishing articles over past some time. As a part of this endeavour ISCS, in collaboration with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies (MAKAIAS), had organized a National seminar on India-Israel relationship titled “Indo-Israel Bilateral Relations: Defence and strategic Cooperation” on 24th February, 2023 at the RTC, ICCR, Kolkata from 5 pm onwards. The International Seminar was addressed by Dr. Sarup Prasad Ghosh, Director, MAKAIAS, who commemorated the event while felicitating the guests and delivering his welcome address. Followed to which the Chairperson of the event Shri Arun Singh, Former Ambassador of India to Israel, shared his valuable observation regarding Indo-Israel relations.
The Distinguished Speakers of this seminar did include Professor Ripu Sudan Singh, Specialization in West Asian Studies, Department of Political Science, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar university, Lucknow, Shri Sanket Joshi, Research Associate, Delhi Policy Group and Shri Pradipta Roy, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Scottish Church College, Kolkata who deliberated about key aspects of Indo-Israel bilateral relations as to how both nations could collaborate with each other more effectively in this rapidly changing geo-political and economic situation. The deliberation of the speakers did mark its conclusion with the initiation of an interactive session where several questions were raised by the audience and hence that were adequately addressed by the speakers. The seminar did summarize itself with a brief note and a Vote of thanks by Shri Arindam Mukherjee, Director, ISCS, India.
